WHAT IS DUCTLESS HEATING & COOLING?

Ductless systems allow you to heat and cool your home without adding costly and inefficient ducts (ducts are used in forced air furnace systems). Ductless heat pumps are the best alternative for replacing baseboard and wall mounted electric systems. They're also a great option for replacing propane, wood, or even gas systems. Ductless systems also provide cooling in the summer, making them ideal replacements for window box A/C units, and more affordable than central air.

Ductless systems (both indoor and outdoor units) are connected with copper insulated refrigerant lines that pump cooled or heated refrigerant directly from the outdoor units to the indoor units.

The factors to look at when choosing your Mitsubishi Electric ductless heating and cooling systems are BTU's, number of zones, and unit type.

DUCTLESS SYSTEMS USE TWO MAIN UNITS

  • An indoor air handling unit, called the head
  • An Outdoor compressor

More than one indoor unit can be connected to an outdoor compressor.

  • Quiet, ultra-cost effective and reliable (19 dB)
  • Easy, low-cost installation
  • Rebate & incentive opportunities

HOW DO DUCTLESS SYSTEMS WORK?

Ductless systems are simply electric heat pumps that allow you to switch from cooling to heating with a click of a button. They use refrigerant to transfer heat energy between indoor and outdoor units.

In the winter, the system uses refrigerant to pull heat from the outdoors to provide endless warmth for your home.

In the summer, to quickly and quietly cool your home, the refrigerant moves heat from inside your home to the outdoors.

THE 4 MAIN TYPES OF INDOOR UNITS

Wall Mounted

There are five types of indoor units: wall mounted units, ceiling recessed, floor mounted, and horizontal ducted. The first of these, the wall mounted units, are hung on a wall and are the most efficient units out of all ductless solutions.

Floor mounted units are concealed in the floor, and are ideally used for living rooms or larger areas. They are quiet, and are designed to look sleek and modern to never take away from the beauty of your home.

Horizontal ducted units incorporate flexible ductwork, but operate with ductless inverter technology. These units are a hybrid between aesthetically pleasing central systems and efficient-operating ductless systems.

The Benefits

  • Ductless systems can split your home or property into multiple air zones; these zones allow you to keep the air in your bedroom slightly colder than the air in your living room.
  • Similar to your home's lighting system, you can individually heat and cool rooms using ductless solutions. Imagine having only one light switch control the electricity of your whole house; it would cost a fortune and frankly wouldn't make much sense.
  • Preset the temperatures in every room so you can enjoy the comfort of your home after a long day at work, regardless of which room you are in.
  • Eliminate the use of dust-collecting, bulky, and undesirable ductwork. Ductless can not only consistently clean the circulated air in your home, it can also give you instantaneous airflow, saving you money and energy.

Energy Savings

Most homeowners think that they can’t have both comfort and low monthly energy bills; they have to lose one in order to gain the other. Ductless technology allows you to stay comfortable and save energy at the same time: a win-win situation! Proven with research, homeowners that switch to ductless are likely to save 30-40% more on their monthly energy bills.

How is Quiet Comfort Achieved?

  • Since ductless systems modulate air flow and temperature, they never run at 100% capacity. This helps reduce noisy starts and unnecessary energy consumption.
  • Indoor units can operate at levels as low as 19dB(A) – quieter than a human whisper.
  • Some outdoor units operate at levels as low as 58 dB(A) – the level of a common office environment, restaurant conversation, or background music.
  • Since ductless systems use multiple indoor units with smaller fans to cover a large area, they do not need a large, noisy, and powerful fan to do all the work- no more restless nights because of unwanted and unnecessary noises.

Zone Control

Ductless splits your home or property into zones, where each zone has its own temperature and settings. Do you tend to shy away from your sunroom during the winter season? Ductless allows you to adjust each individual zone separately to better fit your lifestyle. Take control of your savings and comfort with ductless.

Zone control can also fix the problem of insufficient air supply and coverage. Have a hot upstairs bedroom in the summer or a freezing basement in the winter? Ductless solutions can provide you the proper air conditions that you need, no matter the circumstances.

Air-Filtration

Tired of seeing your family suffer from daily allergies and sickness? Ductless multi-stage air filtration systems can help you and your family breathe easier and healthier. The various filters that are used in ductless systems trap pollen, dust, odor-causing gases, bacteria, and other harmful contaminants that circulate around your home. These filters can be washed on a monthly basis, and reused for up to 10 years: another way ductless can help you save and contribute to the sustainability of our planet.

Ductless Hyper Heat

Inverter Technology

INVERTER-driven compressor technology has revolutionized the way homes are comfortably and cost-efficiently heated and cooled. The technology detects changes in the indoor and outdoor temperatures and uses only the energy the system needs to modulate indoor temperatures. This is unlike inefficient conventional systems that run at 100% capacity when turned off and on. Ductless INVERTER technology can keep you comfortable whiling saving you big each month.

Multi Zone Ductless Units

SINGLE ZONES VS. MULTI ZONES

A single zone ductless system is a system that has only one indoor unit connected to the outdoor unit. An application of this would be a single indoor unit in a master bedroom. Depending on the openness of the location, a single zone system can potentially condition multiple rooms.

A multi-zone system is a system that has multiple indoor units (up to eight) connected to an outdoor unit. This system would be ideal for multiple rooms or whole home projects. However, when shopping for a system, it is always important to consider the BTU (British Thermal Unit) requirements of a room or whole home, regardless of room count or square footage.
